My First Collegiate D3 Match: Played @ No.1!

So the title of the post says it all: Yesterday I played my first collegiate match, only I was given the opportunity to play not as the #4, or #3 or even #6... I played as the #1 player. WOW. That's HUGE for a freshman, and it's huge since I've only practiced three times with the team since I got here. I was truly honored that the coach even considered me to play at such a level; what a compliment!

I didn't win my match, however, there was no dispute from the other coaches that I was the number one player (When "technically" I'm just subbing because the team captain had the swine flu and none of the other teammates wanted to play up a spot.), and I was able to ball with my opponent. The final score was 6-1, 6-2 (Like I said, I didn't win!) HOWEVER, EACH GAME WENT TO DEUCE (a tie) and she wrongfully called 5 of my balls-two of which were match points- out when they were obviously in. Even my coach took note of that.

Anyway, I'm proud of myself. When I got back into my dorm, another freshman guy saw my tennis bag and asked what position I played on the team. I was like "What do you mean?" he said he meant what rank did I play at. I told him I played as #1, and his mouth dropped. He was like how the heck did a FRESHMAN get to play at #1!?!?!?! He himself being a student athlete...

IDK, God, I suppose :)
(hey, can a gurl have a happy moment!?)

  1. Hello, girli and yes you can have your moment. No matter the circumstance it was your moment and you did not shy away from the opportunity that GOD gave to you to participate and as #1 seed; great job. I took a moment to look at some of your last3st photographs beautiful as always. I'd like to see someone take your picture though to see you interacting in your new surroundings, just to be sure it not all work and no play : ). I know you will do well in your classes so keep up the hard work, talk at you later. Loc's (S Strother)
