A few days ago I was on the Messiah database of churches that have buses to transport students to various places of worship in the area, and I saw Christ Community Church on the list. For some reason, the name stuck in my head, and I decided to attend. My main goal in choosing a church while in college was to find one that matched my theological beliefs and (if I may risk sounding so biased...) was extremely similar in worship as my home church in MD. I really didn't want to take a spiritual step backward, but I still wanted to remain open-minded to meet other brothers and sisters in the faith. How thrilling, this very adult decision! :)
This morning I woke, ate breakfast, and walked to the lot where Mr. Mike, the driver, was waiting to load students. I and five other girls climbed into the bus.
The church service was awesome. Everyone there is passionate about worshipping God and really teaching the Word to the parishoners. I felt so at home worshipping there... And everyone was SOOO nice. The church is not HUGE, like I'm accustomed to, but I think they are doing so many BIG things that I am NOT accustomed to seeing:
- missions in OTHER countries
- a CHILDREN'S ministry that sends 5-6th graders to other countries to share the gospel with other children in hospitals
- a cute cafe
- an affable, soft-spoken pastor
- a church that stresses its parishoners' relationship with God more than the clothing they wear or the socialeconomic status
- such...warmth. idk how to explain it. People treated you like they really wanted you there, and they were SOO encouraging.
So, let's just say I'll be back next sunday.
Love!
